Illegal online loans (Pinjol) and online gambling (Judol) have become critical issues spreading across many regions of Indonesia, including Maluku Province. The rapid advancement of digital technology has made access to non-bank financial services and online gambling platforms more convenient for the public. However, this accessibility is often accompanied by significant risks, especially when these services operate outside the legal framework. Low financial and digital literacy levels make teenagers and university students in Ambon more vulnerable to falling into high-interest debt and experiencing the social consequences of gambling addiction. The negative impacts of these phenomena include severe financial strain, social conflict, and psychological disorders such as anxiety and stress.
A community outreach program led by Universitas Pattimura's thematic KKN in Waiheru Village aims to educate teenagers and students about the dangers of illegal Pinjol and Judol. The outreach methods involve interactive seminars, group discussions, and educational media to raise awareness and equip them with prudent financial management skills. The results show active participation and a notable increase in awareness regarding the associated risks, with the hope of preventing the younger generation from engaging in harmful financial practices and fostering a safer and more secure future.
